REVIEW

The Bangkok Fiasco and Other Stories is the collection of nine stories weaved around a wide range of human emotions. The stories are about people whom you see around you on day to day basis and thus are quite connectable. Each story has an entertainment quotient and a few has some moral lessons. Most of the characters in these stories are flawed and that makes them real and relatable. The stories are set in various parts of India and some even across the globe, suggesting the author’s vivid travel experiences and you get a glimpse of culture and demography of various places.

Freedom@Midnight and A Loving Wife were the stories I liked the most though the mention of Google existing thirty seven year ago in the second story seemed out of place.

A few times I felt that the stories were being stretched a bit yet they were quite entertaining. The best part about the book is you can read it with breaks as it is possible with most of the short stories.

The title of the book is taken from one of the stories and is quite catchy. The digital printed colourful cover page gives the glimpse of colourful nightlife of Bangkok. The language is simple and cogent. The stories flow seamlessly and keep you engrossed through out. They are a fair mix of drama and emotions, leaving you amazed sometimes and sad at others.

All in all the book is a perfect read for cozy afternoons or late night reading when you are looking to read a few pages before you sleep.
